Olympia, Washington's GO Media Commissions State's First Carl Tatz Design PhantomFocus™ System
– Pacific Northwest's Only Avid Pro School Training Center, GO Media, Upgrades to the Latest PhantomFocus™ System Technology in their Carl Tatz Design (CTD) Studio –
Nashville, TN: "Any professional educational facility should take serious notice of the PhantomFocus™ System (PFS)," instructs Glenn Martucci, CEO of Olympia, Washington's GO Media. "We strive to offer our students the best possible learning environment and feel that it would be a disservice to our students not provide them with the tools required to hear the truly accurate and sonically enveloping monitoring that only the (PFS) delivers. In the day of ear buds, tiny computer speakers and docking stations, not to mention the inadequately-equipped majority of recording studios, it is unfortunate that the availability to hear recorded material accurately has been greatly diminished."
" We were immediately transported inside the recording," recalls Martucci about the GO Media staff members' first PhantomFocus™ System experience when they visited one of Carl Tatz Design LLC's studios in Nashville. He goes on to talk about his new PFS at GO Media: "Hearing is everything, and with the PFS you save so much time not having to constantly second guess the accuracy of your mix - no more running out to the car or needing to listen on another set of speakers. The PhantomFocus™ System is absolutely invaluable as a teaching tool for our students."
GO Media is another recent example of a custom application of the new Carl Tatz Design Signature Series by Auralex acoustic treatment for control rooms (soon to be available) that emulates the company's award-winning acoustic designs. GO Media offers on-site as well as on-line Pro Tools certification by uniquely qualified instructors who have been teaching since its conception in the '90s. Their new Carl Tatz Design LLC studio is a testament to their passion and commitment to continuing to be Avid's premiere Pacific Northwest Pro School Training Center.
Martucci points out, "A student could take a whole course in audio production and never hear what a good mix sounds like. Our students know they are hearing what some of the industry’s top engineers and producers are hearing. The CTD PFS renders the accuracy and confidence to inspire our students creatively."
About the PhantomFocus™ System
Once the basic acoustic treatment has been accomplished, Carl Tatz Design’s proprietary PhantomFocus™ Monitor System offers clients a unique opportunity to have a truly world-class monitoring experience in their room, no matter how modest they may perceive it to be. The PhantomFocus System allows their monitors of choice to perform accurately at a full 20Hz-to-20KHz frequency response with pinpoint imaging in an almost holographic sweet spot — this enables their mixes to travel anywhere with a new level of sonic accuracy. There are approximately fifty steps in the proprietary PhantomFocus System implementation protocol, some of which may include phase and laser alignment, damping, isolation mounts, careful assessment of engineer/speaker placement relative to their room’s primary axial modes, proprietary speaker distance and angle, crossover points for pass filtering, and finally parametric equalization. Hardware can include monitor stands, concrete, sorbothane and other isolation materials, custom floating plenum mounts, subwoofer system, custom crossover, parametric equalizers and the monitors themselves (passive or active). The evaluation and implementation is a full two-day process and can be applied to near-fields, mid-fields, and large soffit mounted monitors, regardless of manufacturer. Carl Tatz Design can install the PhantomFocus System in existing control rooms or in studios that are designed and built from the ground up by CTD. The result is like the aural equivalent of HD TV. Once you experience a PhantomFocus System, you can’t go back.
